Technical Analyst
PURPOSE FOR POSITION: The Technical Analyst, under the direction of the Technology Manager, shall be responsible for the technical and operational support of all business computer equipment to ensure maximum productivity, reliability and availability of the equipment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Installs computers, software, printers and other equipment. Installs upgrades to hardware and software. Orders new supplies and equipment needed for the proper operation of the Firm’s computer system. In conjunction with the Technology Manager, develop and maintain procedures governing the operation and maintenance of all technology equipment. Determines causes of equipment malfunctions, involving both hardware and software, and makes immediate corrections or recommendations for system improvements after consultation with the Technology Manager. Coordinate equipment repairs to scheduled service involved equipment failure and/or preventive maintenance. Maintains equipment failure records for submission to the Technology Manager. Maintains an inventory of equipment used to ensure that adequate reserves are maintained. Answers, evaluates and prioritizes incoming requests for assistance from users experiencing issues with hardware, software, networking and other computer-related technologies. Orients new employees on the Firm’s systems (i.e., computer and telephone). Trains users on software and hardware and makes recommendations to the Technology Manager other training classes for the Firm. Helps develop training materials for Firm employees. Maintain, troubleshoot and verify daily backups.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, qualified candidates must be able to perform each essential duty. Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or technical school degree in information technology or equivalent IT experience. A+ MSDST or other technical certifications not required but a plus. Hands-on experience with a laptop environment and personal information managers. Ability to systematically troubleshoot standard equipment. Ability to communicate effectively with users. Ability to multi-task and respond quickly to problems as well as work in stressful conditions under time deadlines. Must utilize tact, discretion, and use good judgment in all aspects of work. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office. Must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Experience in a service industry with preference in legal. Experience in documenting issues using a ticketing system. Experience with Symantec Ghost, including creating master images. Experience configuring or maintaining Cisco Pix firewalls. Willingness to work outside of the normal hours when required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION Must have physical mobility and physical ability to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds; physical ability to operate computer and other equipment, to operative and manipulate tools, to install and repair equipment. While performing the duties of the job; employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use of hands to finger; talk or hear.
