It was an honor to serve as a presiding judge and scoring judge at the Arkansas Bar Association Mock Trial Competition on March 7, 2020 in Conway, Arkansas at the Faulkner County Justice Center. Both trials were very entertaining and the high school students were very impressive. Finals will be held in Little Rock on March 28, 2020. The program is a rich curriculum promoting the development of fundamental knowledge, sound judgment and critical thinking skills for high school students considering a career in the legal field. Students from across the state are given an opportunity to act as attorneys and witnesses in a mock trial where they build a case and must present testimony and documents and utilize mock trial rules of evidence and procedure. The students work very hard on these cases and it always shows.
