John D (Jay) Settle
ABOUT
With a father in the state legislature, Jay became interested in the law at a young age. Following graduation from law school, he and Robert L. Pou III formed SettlePou in 1978, focusing mostly on commercial lending and real estate transactions. Jay has continued to practice in both of these areas for his entire career and the life of the firm, gaining deep experience and expertise that allow him to provide highly efficient and effective service to SettlePou clients.
A native Texan, Jay was born and raised in Dallas, and he serves in a number of legal and community organizations. Outside of work, he enjoys fly fishing, bird hunting, golf, reading (particularly about history), and spending time with his wife, family, and friends.
Jay Settle has practiced law for more than 45 years. He has participated in over 20,000 real estate transactions and he still takes a personal interest in each one. He enjoys serving clients’ business succession and personal planning needs as well. As co-founder of SettlePou and a member of the firm’s Commercial Lending and Real Estate practices, he has seen the firm grow from a two-attorney partnership to a large practice with more than 30 attorneys. Jay also enjoys serving his clients and is intrigued by the personal stories connected with title transfers and the development of real property.
